Why you should elope

It’s a magical day when you get all your friends and family in a big room together to celebrate your love for each other. But just because you aren’t big party people doesn’t mean you can’t tie the knot in your own special way.

An elopement is a great way for you to declare your love for one another in front of your absolute closest friends, a commissioner to make it official and of course, me, to help get those beautiful photos of this special day.

Licia and Henk are both busy people. A lot of the time they find themselves with hectic schedules and travelling the world together. When the stars aligned and both their best friends could be in Vancouver with them, they knew it was a perfect time. Within a week of planning, Licia managed to get everything together, the cake, the flowers, the paperwork. Their plan was to have a few drinks to celebrate, exchange vows and spend the rest of the sunny afternoon having an amazing BBQ roast dinner with friends!

When I had spoken to Licia just a few days prior, there was snow in the forecast. She had described the view from her condo of coal harbour overlooking the water and snow covered mountains. She sent me a photo of what it looked like that day and it was quite the opposite!

When the stars align though, everything is perfect. Come Sunday, the sun came out (of course), the view was magnificent and what a perfect day to get married to the love of your life.

Congratulations Licia and Henk! May the sun always be shining in your marriage together 🙂 Cheers!

Top 5 reasons why you should have an in-home elopement:

  • It’s more affordable
  • You’re an introvert and can’t bear being the centre of attention, especially not in front of a large group of people
  • You don’t need to travel
  • You can have your ceremony in the comforts of your home
  • You can drink all you want – your bed is right there to crash on if you’ve had one too many!
