Evelyn said to me “I ain’t a crier”… and then she read her card from Chris. It was nothing but happy tears for the rest of the day.
Right from the beginning, Evelyn made it very clear to me when making her decision to book with us that she wanted Chris to be a part of planning their big day. Our appointments kept getting pushed later into the year as Chris had to be away for work – he works on movie/tv sets AND he’s a volunteer firefighter! Nonetheless, she waited patiently until we finally could book a date for the 3 of us to meet (once he was done saving lives of course!) 🙂
Evelyn & Chris described themselves as homebodies who loved just spending the day chillin’ on the couch and binge-watching TV shows. Their calm and laid backed demeanour made their entire wedding day relaxing and filled with fun!
But what’s a wedding day without a tiny bit of chaos, right? While we were taking photos out on Jericho beach, Evelyn’s sister realized she had lost her earring! This resulted in a wedding party scavenger hunt. After quite literally looking for an earring in a beach full of sand the wedding party eventually accepted that there was no chance we would find such a small trinket in such a large area, and we headed back to get ready for the ceremony.
But the crew and I were determined to find it! All of us brought out our inner detective and traced our steps. We started to search through the photos on the back of my camera to find clues, which lead us right to the earring! I think we all shared a little CSI moment there.
For me, weddings are generally fun, filled with laughter and of course lots of love, but at pretty much every wedding there’s a moment that really stands out, and gives me the “feels”. This time, it was when I overheard Evelyn talking to a friend about her bouquet. Attached to the stems was a charm with a photo of a gentleman. That gentleman is Evelyn’s dad who had passed away a few years ago. She said to her friend “He’s not here. But I thought this way, he could walk me down the aisle, sort of.” It’s moments like these that really make me love the couples that invite me to be part of their lives, even if it is just for a small glimpse.
Evelyn & Chris, thank you for sharing your story with me and for trusting me to capture your big day!
